INSTRUCTOR:

ANDREW FRENCH has photographed editorial and commercial work for clients including Food & Wine, Esquire, Town & Country, House & Garden and O, The Oprah Magazine. Before he began his career as a photographer, he worked as an assistant to over 70 photographers, including Mary Ellen Mark, Annie Leibovitz, John Dominis, Art Kane, and Ruth Orkin, among others. Learning from the masters shaped Andrew’s approach to his own photography and is the basis of the knowledge he shares with his students. Andrew has a degree in Education and has been on the faculty at the International Center of Photography and New York University for nearly two decades. He also teaches at the Penumbra Foundation and the Bronx Documentary Center and guest teaches around the world. Andrew is inspired by his daylight studio and collection of thousands of photobooks, and loves going on adventures around NYC with his wife, son, and dog Nelson.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS AND PARENTS ARE SAYING:

"Some of my favorite memories from the workshop were shooting on a variety of old medium format cameras in Andrew French’s gorgeous daylight studio and the streets of Union Square, sifting through his ceiling length bookcase of photography books, and a field trip to the Penumbra Foundation where I learned about the historic process of tintypes. The workshop was a once in a lifetime experience where I was able to learn from and connect with photography professionals in an intimate and supportive setting. The beautiful images I created and the knowledge I gained, I will treasure for a long time to come." – Ella

"Arielle has learned a great deal in this class and it sparked her interest in photography even more. I feel that the instructors have an incredible way of guiding the students, which results in beautiful images that reflect their true nature. I am truly in awe and grateful for the experience. Bravo!" – Gloria, Arielle’s Mom

"LOVED IT!!! " – Asher

"I really enjoyed finding my photography style and now I know how to take better photos." – Emma

"My favorite part of this course was the freedom and experimentation throughout the entire experience." – Arielle

"I think the most successful part of this course was learning all about how to take a great photo." – Aiden
